Glossary of golf terminology
P
Plumb-bob
A method used by many players to help read a break and line up
a putt. It's used by many more ineffectively and unnecessarily.
To plumb-bob, place your putter shaft in the air, directly between
you and the ball, so the shaft covers the ball. If used correctly,
the shaft will help show you the break of the putt.
Punch Shot
A low-flying shot, usually used to get out of trouble. The backswing
and finish are both shortened and the hands are moved further
ahead of the club head to reduce loft.
